Pesto arrived at Los Barrios pound in August 2023 and was about 3,5 years old on arrival. He is a gorgeous Mastin that was found presumably abandoned in the streets and brought to the pound.Pesto's transformation at our pound has been remarkable. Once a scared and undernourished dog, he's now a healthy, handsome boy ready for a loving home.At the pound, Pesto shares a cage with other dogs, but during the day, he enjoys time on the patio where he plays and socializes with many canine friends. This social time has helped him blossom.Pesto has discovered the joys of human companionship. He's become an enthusiastic walker, mastering lead skills and embracing outdoor adventures. On walks, Pesto loves to explore, pausing happily for treats and gentle cuddles. He has become comfortable around cars, people, and other dogs passing by on walks - in a rural area.While Pesto has made great strides, he still needs some patience in new situations. His confidence grows daily with gentle encouragement, and he's eager to continue his journey in a forever home. Unfortunately, in August 2025, he was taken to another shelter because they were no longer able to care for him. We cannot understand why Pesto has had the misfortune of being abandoned twice.Pesto is a wonderful dog. At the shelter, he shows nothing but kindness and nobility. He is extremely affectionate with people, calm and approachable, and has a balanced temperament. He can be somewhat submissive, especially with sudden movements, often rolling onto his back to show his gentle nature.He has never shown signs of anger towards humans or other dogs. Pesto is friendly, playful, and very sociable with other dogs, enjoying large group walks and interacting well with dogs of all kinds.We are looking for a loving family who can give him daily walks and activity, and a home where his affectionate and playful personality can truly shine. Pesto deserves a stable, forever home where he will never have to face abandonment again. ❤️
