Barbie arrived at Los Barrios pound in August 2023 and was almost 9 years old on arrival. She is a gorgeous english bulldog terrier that was found presumably abandoned in the streets and brought to the pound.She hasn't had an easy start at the pound. She was so sick that she had to be hospitalized for a few days. When she returned to her cage, she developed bad paws because the floor is always damp, and we're still struggling with that, although it has gotten better. Barbie is a determined little lady. She speaks up if there's something she doesn't like. But if things go on her terms, it's fine.She loves going for walks and is perfect on the lead. She likes treats so much that you need to watch your fingers 😅She really is a funny little madam. She hasn't been tested with other dogs yet.Barbie needs a home with experience with her breed or similar, and not with children.November 2024: UPDATE ON BARBIE 🐾Due to the recent flooding at the pound in October, Barbie was moved to a private kennel a couple of weeks ago. Yesterday, we visited her, and we're absolutely thrilled with her transformation!Barbie is like a completely different dog in her new environment. She's become so much calmer and more relaxed, and her happiness is evident to everyone who sees her. She absolutely adores human attention, soaking up all the cuddles she can get. The change in her behavior is truly remarkable.After seeing how well she's doing in a better environment, we're hoping to keep her out of the pound permanently. The stressful conditions there were not good for her well-being, and she struggled significantly in that environment.We're now looking for solutions to ensure Barbie can continue thriving in a more suitable setting. Her beautiful personality is truly shining through now that she's in a calmer environment with proper care and attention.Barbie is now ready for a foster home! She would need to be in a household without small children. She hasn't been tested with other dogs yet. Could you be the foster family that helps Barbie continue her amazing journey? Or even better give her a forever home, she is about 10 years old and deserves a warm bed.
