Astrid arrived at Los Barrios pound in December 2025 and was about 4.5 years old on arrival. She is a gorgeous Malinois that was found presumably abandoned on the streets and taken to the pound.Astrid is a stunning Belgian Shepherd cross who arrived at the pound in January 2026, at around four and a half years old. From the moment you meet her, it’s clear she is a very sweet and loving girl, full of energy and charm.She adores playing with a ball and going out for walks. She can be quite strong on the lead, which is understandable as she still spends most of her day in a small cage, but she is completely unfazed by passing cars or people. On walks, Astrid has been very close to other dogs without any issues, and she has also walked alongside a female dog calmly. She has not yet been off lead with other dogs, but her behaviour so far has been very encouraging. As we continue to get to know her, further introductions will help us understand her social preferences better.Astrid is clever and eager to engage. She enjoys stopping during walks to show off her tricks and already knows how to sit and lie down, happily working for treats and praise.Like many active dogs at the pound, Astrid is stressed in the cage and truly deserves a family who can give her the space, freedom, and stimulation she needs. She would flourish in a home with a secure garden to run in, daily walks to explore, and plenty of mental and physical activities to keep her happy and healthy. Astrid is a remarkable girl who just needs the right home to truly thrive.
