Lotus arrived at Los Barrios pound in December 2024 and was about 15 months old on arrival. He is an American Staffordshire Terrier that was found presumably abandoned in the streets and brought to the pound.Lotus 💛 Just a young boy dreaming of a better life…Soon, Lotus will have spent 250 days living alone in a tiny cage — a cage he only leaves for a few precious minutes each day. It’s heartbreaking, because he is such a sweet and loving boy who deserves so much more.Lotus was just 15 months old when he arrived. He loves his walks — though they are rare due to the lack of volunteers. He adores cuddles and truly believes he’s a lap dog! 🐾 Despite the stress of pound life, he stays calm on walks, even around people and passing cars. He’s curious — never reactive — when he sees other dogs. Lotus has been out on the patio with another large female dog, and the interaction went well. He was a little overexcited, which is understandable considering the horrible conditions he has endured for almost a year now at the pound. It was his first real interaction with another dog in all that time, and he was clearly eager to engage and enjoy the moment.September 2025: Lotus was recently moved to a private residence after becoming very sick. Thanks to the wonderful care he has received there, he is improving day by day. His carers tell us that Lotus is doing incredibly well and has shown himself to be very sociable – he enjoys the company of other dogs, both big and small.This young soul deserves more than a life behind bars. He deserves space to run, people to love, and a home where he can simply be happy.Please consider giving Lotus the second chance he’s been waiting 250 days for. 💕
