Cid arrived at Los Barrios pound in May 2025 and was about 3 years old on arrival. He is a gorgeous Malinois that was found presumably abandoned in the streets and brought to the pound.Cid – A Stunning Malinois Ready to Start Over..When Cid arrived at the pound, his condition broke our hearts. He was covered in ticks and fleas, painfully skinny, and bore a deep mark around his neck — a silent sign that he may have spent a long time tied up, neglected and perhaps forgotten.Despite everything, Cid is an incredibly sweet and affectionate dog. He craves human contact and lights up the moment someone stops to give him attention — something he has clearly been starved of for far too long.Cid is a Malinois, around three years old, and a truly striking one. He has already been integrated with other dogs and is currently sharing his short daily break in the patio with both a male and a female, getting along well with both. The rest of the time, like so many others, he lives alone in a small cage, waiting.But Cid is struggling more than most. He is painfully thin and continues to lose weight, despite our best efforts. He has recently tested positive for leishmania, a condition for which he is now receiving treatment. Unfortunately, he urgently needs a special diet and regular medication — something that is extremely difficult to manage in the shelter environment.Cid is not just fading physically, but emotionally too. And yet, there is still hope in his eyes. Just recently, he went for a walk with a young girl and he did so well. He walked calmly, enjoyed the attention, and showed just how much love and potential he has. He is ready to give his heart to someone — he just needs the chance.Cid desperately needs to leave the pound. A foster home or forever family could make all the difference. With proper food, care, and love, this beautiful soul could finally begin to heal — both inside and out.🌟Update October: Cid was super lucky to go to a wonderful foster home in August — one that already has several of our dogs in foster, plus a few of their own! He’s been there for about six weeks now, and he’s doing absolutely incredible. Cid has gained weight, he is playing happily with the other dogs, and continues to show his sweet and loving nature. We’re so happy to see how far he’s come — but Cid is still waiting for his very own family. He truly deserves a forever home filled with love and care. Please, help Cid. Share his story.
