Rumbero arrived at Los Barrios pound in October 2023 and was about 2 years old on arrival. He is a gorgeous Malinois crossbreed that was found presumably abandoned in the streets and brought to the pound.Rumbero is a young Malinois cross with a challenging past. He arrived at the pound with a chain around his neck, indicating that he has likely been tied up for most of his life. This lack of freedom and socialization has made him wary of new people and other dogs. With the familiar faces he sees every day, Rumbero is affectionate and enjoys cuddles. However, he doesn't exhibit the most welcoming behavior towards strangers.Life at the pound is incredibly stressful for Rumbero. Being locked up in a cage for more than 23 hours a day only exacerbates his stress and trust issues. Sharing a small space with other dogs often leads to minor fights, likely due to the high-stress environment and lack of personal space.Sadly, due to the shortage of volunteers, Rumbero rarely gets to go for walks. On the few occasions he does, he absolutely loves it—he sniffs everything and just can’t get enough. He is excellent on the lead, doesn’t pull, and isn’t bothered by passing cars or people. When encountering other dogs, his reaction varies—sometimes he looks curious, while other times he simply ignores them. He is incredibly easy to walk and clearly enjoys every moment outside his cage.Rumbero desperately needs an experienced owner who understands his background and is willing to dedicate the time and training required to help him overcome his trust issues. A calm and structured environment will be essential for Rumbero to feel safe and start to build trust with new people. With patience, commitment, and proper training, Rumbero has the potential to become a loyal and loving companion. He needs a special person who can provide him with the chance to thrive and live beyond the confines of his cage.
