He is a gorgeous Belgian Shepherd Cross that was found presumably abandoned in the streets and brought to the pound.Kioto – From Timid Newcomer to Playful Young StarA Belgian Shepherd Cross in Search of a Forever HomeKioto arrived at the pound in November 2024, just 11 months old – a young Belgian Shepherd cross facing a confusing and noisy new world. The transition was overwhelming for him, and in those first weeks, he spent most of his time alone in his cage, surrounded by unfamiliar barking and strangers. Understandably, he was shy and unsure. But what a difference time, care, and patience can make. Now, after half a year at the pound, Kioto has blossomed into a sweet, loving, and playful young dog. He absolutely loves going for walks and enjoys his daily playtime in the patio, where he now shares space happily with both male and female dogs. His confidence has grown, and so has his sparkle – he’s truly become a stunning and joyful companion.Sadly, Kioto, like all our dogs, still spends more than 23½ hours each day in a small cage. It’s no life for a young dog full of energy and affection.Kioto is ready for the next chapter – one with a family, freedom, and love.Could you be the one to give him that chance?Foster Update – January 2026Kioto went into an emergency foster home for a few days due to heavy rain and the risk of flooding at the pound. According to his foster, he was a little scared during the first few hours, but he soon relaxed and settled in.He is super affectionate and wants to be close to you all the time, constantly seeking contact and cuddles. He simply needs an outlet for his energy — once he has burned that off, he is a very good, calm, and loving dog who listens quite well.On walks around the village, Kioto behaves really well, responds nicely, and gets along well with the dogs he meets.House training is still a work in progress. He is not yet used to doing his business on walks and has been using the patio or garage instead, but this is purely due to lack of experience. With consistency and a steady routine, his foster is confident he will learn very quickly in a permanent home.Unfortunately, the foster cannot keep him much longer, as they are working all weekend and the match with the resident dog is not ideal — not because of Kioto, who only wants to play, but because the resident dog is older and prefers her own space.Despite the short stay, Kioto has shown himself to be a very sweet, affectionate dog with lots of potential, who would thrive in a home that can offer him time, exercise, patience, and love.
