Scarlett – Three Years Behind Bars and Still Waiting 💔Scarlett arrived at Los Barrios pound in July 2022 and was about 2 years old on arrival. She is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier who was found, presumably abandoned, and brought to the pound.Scarlett is a unique and sensitive dog who doesn’t warm up to everyone right away. But throw her a ball, and her whole face lights up with joy. She has a deep love for play and truly enjoys her weekly walks, where she can explore the world beyond her cage.Now, in 2025, Scarlett has spent three long years behind bars. One of our dedicated volunteers takes her out for a walk every week, and those moments of freedom are what she lives for. But for the rest of the time—more than 23 hours a day—Scarlett remains confined in a cage. This is not the life she deserves.She often stays curled up in her doghouse, quiet and withdrawn, a reflection of the sadness and isolation she’s endured for far too long. Despite it all, she’s still holding on, still hoping for that one special person to see her and give her a chance.Scarlett has been out with a few different male dogs at the pound and done well on walks with them. However, she would need careful introductions to any future dog companions. Because of her sensitive nature, Scarlett is looking for a calm, child-free home with an experienced adopter who understands her boundaries and will give her the time and space she needs to feel safe.Scarlett is waiting for someone patient and kind—someone who can offer her the quiet, loving forever home she’s never known.Could that someone be you?
