Canelon arrived at Los Barrios pound in April 2024 and was about 7,5 years old on arrival. He is a gorgeous cross breed that was found presumably abandoned in the streets and brought to the pound.A Loving Soul Still Waiting for His Forever Home…Canelón has now been waiting for more than one and a half years at the pound – and heartbreakingly, not a single person has ever asked for him. This sweet, affectionate boy is still holding on to hope. He craves love, attention, and companionship, and he does not deserve to spend over 23 hours a day locked in a cage – all alone, sad, and bored.Despite his situation, Canelón continues to show what a gentle and loving soul he is. He has blossomed into a truly affectionate companion who adores cuddles and kisses, and he showers his caretakers and volunteers with warmth. He's more than ready for a home where he can finally receive the love he so deeply needs.Canelón enjoys going for walks, and he walks beautifully on the lead. He loves exploring the world with his nose, and these outings bring him so much joy – though unfortunately, they remain rare due to the lack of volunteers. On his walks, he is calm and composed, showing no signs of stress when passing other dogs, cars, or people.Recently, Canelón has been spending some time in the patio with a large female dog, and it’s going very well. He’s ready to fill your life with love, loyalty, and gentle companionship.Please consider adopting Canelón – he’s waited long enough.Update December 2025:Canelon has spent nearly 600 days at the Pound in a small cage, so you can imagine how thrilled he was when two volunteers took him for a little adventure in the local village. It wasn’t surprising at all that he handled everything so wonderfully—this sweet boy is simply calm, gentle, and lovely.He went alongside another dog, a beautiful female named Pura. This was their first meeting, yet they got along immediately and walked together perfectly. Canelon travelled calmly in the car and moved through the village as if he had done it every day. He was curious, sniffing around, happy and relaxed. He wasn’t bothered by traffic, people, or other dogs passing by. He even happily stopped for cuddles and a few treats along the way.When he returned to the Pound, he understandably didn’t want to go back inside—living alone in a tiny cage is a very lonely life for such a special dog. At about six and a half years old, Canelon truly deserves a warm, loving home where he can finally enjoy the comfort, care, and companionship he’s been waiting for.
