Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier

Date of Birth: 2/11/2017

Kalifa arrived at Los Barrios pound in August 2023 and was about 6-7 years old on arrival. He is a gorgeous ppp that was found presumably abandoned in the streets and brought to the pound.Kalifa – Looking for a Second ChanceKalifa is an incredibly affectionate and friendly senior boy. Now around 8 years old, he’s calm, gentle, and simply longs for human companionship. Life at the pound is especially hard for a dog like him – most days, he spends over 23 hours in a small cage with very little interaction or affection. He is extremely stressed in such a confined space and isn’t coping well.Poor Kalifa endures day after day in that tiny cage, only getting out onto the patio for a few minutes each day. Imagine living in your own filth, surrounded by metal bars, constant barking, and people passing by in a hurry without even a friendly smile or a kind word…But when Kalifa gets the chance to go for a walk, his whole face lights up. He walks beautifully on the leash and clearly treasures every moment of freedom and connection. Sadly, these walks are rare due to the lack of volunteers.Kalifa deserves so much more – a peaceful home where he can feel safe and loved again. He needs a family with experience handling PPP breeds and no other dogs in the home. After everything he’s been through, Kalifa is more than ready for his happily ever after. Kalifa – june 2025 update from his foster home: Kalifa has been in foster care for a few months now, and he is doing really well. He’s a calm, obedient, and gentle senior boy – around 8 years old – who deeply enjoys human companionship. He is fully housetrained, doesn’t destroy anything in the home, and comes when called. At home, he’s very relaxed and easygoing. The only time he really gets excited is at the beach – he absolutely loves it! He runs, swims, and plays with pure joy.Kalifa walks beautifully on the leash, though on some days he gets a little anxious before heading out and might pull a bit in the first couple of meters – but he quickly settles down. He’s currently being observed with other dogs. He seems to get along well with females. With males, it likely depends on their temperament – he may not do well with dominant males. His current foster situation cannot continue for much longer, so Kalifa urgently needs a new foster – or even better, a forever home where he can finally feel safe, loved, and at peace. He truly deserves it. ❤️
