Pura arrived at Los Barrios pound in November 2025 and was about 6 years old on arrival. She is a gorgeous Crossbreed that was found presumably abandoned on the streets and taken to the pound.Pura is a gentle, affectionate dog who will be 6 years old on arrival in November 2025. She is an absolute sweetheart, a true softie, and loves nothing more than being near people, enjoying their attention and companionship.Pura has already been successfully integrated with another male dog and gets along wonderfully, showing her calm and friendly nature. She has so much love to give and deserves a forever home where she can feel safe, cherished, and part of the family. In December, Pura went on a little trip to the local village with another dog, the handsome Canelon. Their first meeting was in the car on the way there, and they got along really well throughout the whole trip.Pura jumped right into the car and settled calmly on the back seat for the journey. Once in the village, she was a bit overwhelmed by all the new sights and sounds, but she managed very well. Light traffic, people, and other dogs passing by didn’t bother her, though the noisy street sweepers did startle her. She seemed to find comfort walking alongside Canelon. It may have been her first time exploring a town, but she did great. Pura would likely thrive best in a home that isn’t in the middle of a big, noisy city, where she can enjoy relaxed walks and the love of a caring family.Foster Update – January 2026Due to heavy rainfall and the risk of flooding at the pound, Pura was placed into foster care. She has now been in three different foster homes, and after a week in her current foster home, she is doing amazingly well. It is clear she has experienced a lot of change in recent weeks, but she is settling in beautifully.First foster home (one week): According to her foster family, Pura stayed calmly at home with the resident dog while they were at work. She was calm and quiet, never barked, and did all her toileting outside. She enjoyed running and playing with other dogs, and absolutely loved visits to the countryside and the beach.Second foster home (two weeks): Her foster described her as an incredible dog and the perfect companion. She lived happily with two smaller resident dogs and was calm, well-mannered, and affectionate at home. She did not destroy anything, did not bark, and welcomed everyone who came through the door. She behaved beautifully on walks, loves people, and gets along well with other dogs.Third foster home (current, one week): Pura continues to impress. She shares the home with another dog, and they love to play together — she gets along wonderfully with her canine companion. Pura is very sweet and affectionate, loves attention and cuddles, and even though she weighs 31 kilos, she thinks she’s a lap dog. She is calm in the house, loves sleeping on the couch, and has been left alone without any issues. She is great on walks with light traffic and travels calmly in the car. She greets everyone she meets with a wagging tail and is simply a sweetheart. Pura loves food and has already learned her daily routines, including walks, snacks, and bedtime.Across all three foster homes, Pura has consistently proven herself to be calm, affectionate, well-behaved, and adaptable, with a loving nature and a desire to please. She is ready for a forever home where she can feel safe, cherished, and part of a family that will give her all the love she deserves.
