Timo arrived at Los Barrios pound in August 2023 and was about 2 years old on arrival. He is a gorgeous Belgian Shepherd that was found presumably abandoned in the streets and brought to the pound.Timo is an absolute gem! He's incredibly friendly with people, adores cuddles, and cherishes every bit of attention he receives from the volunteers. With his endearing habit of sitting obediently, it's nearly impossible to resist his charm when he gazes at you with those captivating amber eyes and his floppy ears ❤️.Despite spending most of his day in a tiny cage (more than 23 hours every day!), Timo eagerly awaits his daily break on the small patio, where he can stretch his legs and release some pent-up energy. He's quite imaginative and always finds something to play with, showcasing his playful spirit.While he lives in solitude in his cage, Timo occasionally enjoys the company of another male and a female on the patio.Timo loves going out for a walk up and down the gravel road outside the pound, but he doesn't get to go on walks often because there aren't enough volunteers. When he does get to go out, he's super happy and loves every minute of it! He behaves well on the lead, though his excitement sometimes makes him pull a bit.Timo recently (December 2024) had the chance to go on a special outing to the local town with two of our regular volunteers, and he was amazing! After 1 ½ years in the pound, it was his first time leaving the pound area, and he embraced every moment. Timo was thrilled to explore, taking in all the sights and sounds with excitement. He wasn’t bothered by the busy traffic, children playing with a ball, barking dogs, or people passing by. Instead, he seemed determined not to miss a single thing and handled it all like a star!It’s clear that Timo’s current living situation isn’t ideal and it’s heartbreaking to think that such a wonderful dog has spent so much time confined to a tiny cage. Timo deserves so much more—a home where he can feel safe, loved, and cherished every single day. He has so much love to give and is just waiting for someone to give him a chance.
