Tom arrived at Los Barrios pound in January 2025 and was about 2 years old on arrival. He is a gorgeous Malinois Crossbreed that was found presumably abandoned in the streets and brought to the pound.Tom first arrived at the pound in May 2024 and was adopted a few months later, in August. Sadly, without any prior notice, he was returned in January 2025 — through no fault of his own. We truly believed Tom had found his forever home, and it was heartbreaking to see him come back.When Tom was returned, he came together with another dog, Lina. The two of them had lived in the same home and have since shared a small cage here at the pound. Both dogs became very stressed and lost weight. In October 2025, Lina was lucky enough to be adopted again — but Tom is still waiting.Now, Tom spends his days alone in his cage. He rarely goes out for walks due to the lack of volunteers, but when he does, he’s a real pleasure to walk. He may pull a little at first, but that’s only because he’s so excited to be outside. Once he settles, he walks beautifully on the lead and is very attentive to the person walking him. He doesn’t react to passing dogs, cats, people, or cars.Tom is a playful young dog who enjoys attention and spending time with people he knows and trusts. He can sometimes be a little unsure around strangers, so he would do best with a calm and patient adopter who can give him time to feel safe and build confidence. He gets along well with other dogs and would be happy to have company again.This lovely boy is wasting his days behind bars and truly deserves a second chance at happiness.
