Nola arrived at Los Barrios pound in December 2023 and was about 2,5 years old on arrival. She is a Malinois that was found presumably abandoned in the streets and brought to the pound.Nola – a beautiful MalinoisNola arrived at the pound two years ago, when she was only about two and a half years old. Living mostly in a tiny cage with another dog and with limited human interaction, she has understandably found meeting new people challenging. She tends to guard her patio and does not accept strangers entering what she considers her “home.”Since this summer, Nola has started to make progress, especially thanks to regular walks, which she now enjoys once or twice a week. On walks, she is calm, focused, and a true pleasure to be with. She walks perfectly on the lead, is not bothered by cars, people, or other dogs passing by, and stays attentive to the person walking her. She enjoys taking small breaks to sit, relax, receive treats, and lean in for affection.While meeting new people in her space remains a challenge, Nola shows her affectionate, loyal, and loving side to those she knows and trusts. A great example of this was in May 2025, when a foreign dog trainer visited the pound—she accepted him immediately, showing how quickly she can respond positively with the right approach.Because of her temperament, Nola needs an experienced adopter who understands the Malinois breed and can respect her boundaries. She cannot live with children or in a home where she must greet many new people regularly. With the right guidance, patience, and a calm environment, Nola has the potential to become a devoted and rewarding companion, ready to enjoy a peaceful and secure life.Nobody has asked about Nola in the two years she has been here, and she truly deserves a loving home.
