Galaxia arrived at Los Barrios pound in September 2023 and was about 1,5 years old on arrival. She is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier that was found presumably abandoned in the streets and brought to the pound.Galaxia is now about 3.5 years old and has been at the pound for over two years — more than half her life. During this time, she has made incredible progress and continues to reveal her loving and gentle nature.When she first arrived, Galaxia was very scared and timid. For over a year, she could not go for walks, and the harness and lead were sources of anxiety for her. Over time, with patience and care from the volunteers, she has learned to wear a harness and now enjoys walks, walking calmly on the lead beside her human companions. Sadly, these walks happen only rarely due to the lack of volunteers, but they remain one of her favorite parts of the day and a huge boost for her confidence and happiness.In the past, Galaxia shared her patio time with a big, gentle male dog, which helped boost her confidence and social skills. Although he has since been adopted, these experiences helped her grow and showed that she could live harmoniously with a calm, friendly, and laid-back dog in a future home.Galaxia’s personality truly shines during one-on-one time. She is affectionate, enjoys gentle cuddles, and appreciates belly rubs. While generally calm, she still delights in running and playing during her patio time, savoring every moment of freedom.Galaxia can still be a little cautious or wary around some new people, so she would do best in a home that understands her needs and allows her to settle in at her own pace.Despite all her progress, Galaxia still faces the harsh reality of life in the pound. She spends most of her day in a small cage, with only short breaks in the patio. This loving dog deserves so much more — a family, a home, and the freedom to truly thrive.Galaxia would flourish in a home that enjoys regular walks and can offer patience, love, and understanding.
