Guacamole – Three Years Waiting, Growing Up Behind Bars 💔Guacamole arrived at Los Barrios pound in June 2022 and was about 10 months old on arrival. He is a gorgeous Mastin cross who was found presumably abandoned in the streets and brought to the pound.Guacamole, a Mastin cross, has had a rough start in life, arriving at the pound with sores all over his body and patches of fur missing. Despite his tough beginnings, he has shown remarkable resilience.Now, three years later, Guacamole has grown up behind bars. He has shared his cage with many different dogs over the years and watched them leave, one by one, while he remains behind, still waiting.After such a long time in a stressful environment, Guacamole has become selective with people. He is very particular about who he likes, and his selective nature has made him a bit challenging. This behaviour seems to be strongest when he is in the patio area at the pound, which may suggest that stress is playing a role.However, when Guacamole is outside the pound on a walk, he seems to transform. He loves going for walks and is excellent on the lead, suggesting that the pound environment might be contributing to his behaviour. Outside, he shows a different side, indicating that he might just need the right setting to thrive.Guacamole needs a home with an enclosed outdoor space where he can move freely and feel secure. He needs a home with someone who has experience handling dogs with complex behaviours, as Guacamole can bite if he feels threatened. A semi-rural or rural home with other dogs could be a good match, as he is good with other dogs.Guacamole is still that sweet dog underneath—shy at first, but cuddly once he gets to know you.
