Bubba arrived at Los Barrios pound in May 2025 and was about 4 years old on arrival. She is a gorgeous cross breed that was found presumably abandoned in the streets and brought to the pound.BUBBA – SHOT, BEATEN AND BROKEN – BUT STILL STANDING 💔 Since arriving at the pound in May, Bubba has been slowly settling in. Little by little, she is beginning to enjoy gentle cuddles, and she now goes for walks on the quiet rural road near the pound. She walks well on the lead and doesn’t seem bothered by passing people or other dogs. Step by step, she is showing us that she wants to heal and that she hasn’t lost all hope in people.With new people, Bubba can be a little timid or wary at first. She may keep her distance until she feels safe — but offer her a treat, and she’ll soon come closer, curious and gentle. Once she knows you, she reveals her sweet, affectionate nature. She just needs a little time, understanding, and patience to show the loving dog she truly is.But her story began in pain. When Bubba first arrived, she had a visible wound on her head, likely from a strong blow. X-rays later revealed that her body was full of pellets. Someone had shot her — multiple times. How much suffering has this poor girl endured? How can anyone be capable of such cruelty?It’s no wonder Bubba kept her distance from people at first. She was wary, unsure, and hesitant to trust. And who could blame her? After everything she has been through, it’s a miracle she’s still alive — and even more of a miracle that she hasn’t given up on the world completely.Bubba is around four years old. We can only imagine what she has seen and survived in that time — perhaps it’s better that we never know. What matters now is that she is safe. She is with us, and we will do everything in our power to help her heal — slowly, gently, at her own pace.Bubba deserves kindness. Peace. And above all, a life free from pain.
