Zumosol arrived at Los Barrios pound in June 2024 and was about 7,5 years old on arrival.Zumosol – One Year Behind Bars, Waiting for Someone to Believe in Him...Zumosol arrived at the pound with a small female Podenco Maneto, his trusted companion, whom he watched over and protected with all his heart. They had once belonged to someone who tried to take them abroad, but due to issues with paperwork, both dogs were left behind. Sadly (for Zumosol), his little friend has long since been adopted, and Zumosol has now spent a whole year in the pound — alone in a small concrete cage, surrounded by metal bars and the constant barking of other dogs.Life behind bars has been tough for Zumosol. He is a sensitive soul, and the noisy, stressful environment has made it hard for him to relax and trust. But little by little, he has begun to let a few trusted volunteers into his world. With them, Zumosol transforms — his eyes light up, his tail wags, and for a moment, he seems like a big, joyful puppy again, even though he is around 8 years old. He leans in for cuddles, enjoys soft play, and soaks up every bit of affection he’s given.Recently, Zumosol has been out on a few walks, and it’s clear how much he enjoys them. He explores eagerly, drinking in every scent with fascination — as if discovering the world for the first time. These short moments outside are precious to him, a small window into the life he longs for.Zumosol is not the kind of dog who will instantly trust or adapt. He needs a special person — someone calm, patient, and kind, who understands that building trust takes time. But for the person who gives him that chance, Zumosol will give his heart in return.He should not grow old behind bars.
