Mateo arrived at Los Barrios pound in March 2023 and was about 2 months old on arrival. He is a gorgeous cross breed that was found presumably abandoned in the streets and brought to the pound.Mateo arrived at the pound with his two brothers. They were all three very scared and super timid with people, they would try to hide behind whatever they could find.They were introduced to some happy and playful dogs, which have helped them to come out of the cage and now also to interact with the volunteers. Mateo was the first one to go out of the cage and the first one who gained confidence to come close to get a treat. He loves treats, so that is a huge help teaching him to trust people.Mateo needs a home with another friendly dog, that can help him to get some more confidence.JUNE 2025 - A sad update for Molar, Magnus & Mateo...In November 2023, the three brothers were moved from the pound to a private kennel in the hopes that a quieter environment would help them open up. But sadly, they were simply too timid to cope even there… They were soon transferred again — this time to another shelter.And that’s where they still are. Living in a cage. Still frightened. Still waiting.Molar, Magnus, and Mateo are sweet but deeply timid dogs who need time, patience, and calm surroundings. What they need most is a quiet home without children, but with at least one friendly and confident dog who can guide them and help them slowly overcome their fears.Please… this is not the life they deserve. The longer they stay in a busy shelter environment, the more stuck they become. They will not get better here. They need homes where someone can truly focus on them — where there is time, love, and understanding.They have waited long enough. Please help them find their chance.
