Casper arrived at Los Barrios pound in August 2024 and was about 3,5 years old on arrival. Casper – A Gentle Soul Waiting for His Forever Home...Casper’s journey has been one of heartbreak and resilience. This three-and-a half-year-old Breton arrived at the pound in a terrible state—confused, stressed, and carrying the weight of his past. Found abandoned in a river where someone had cruelly tried to drown him, Casper has endured far more than any dog should. Despite everything, he has a big heart full of love and an immense capacity for joy.Initially overwhelmed by his surroundings, Casper has shown incredible strength and adaptability. Casper adores people and craves affection, happily sitting on your lap for cuddles and kisses. He’s also friendly with other dogs but, due to past attacks, he would do best as the only dog in a home where he can feel safe and secure.November 2024: Foster UpdateAfter the pound flooded, Casper spent time in foster care, where his foster family discovered the sweet, sensitive soul beneath his nervous exterior. During his stay, he never showed aggression and revealed his love for nature. Casper found peace outdoors, enjoying quiet moments of exploration and restful naps on a long lead. Indoors, he is still learning the ropes of home life, occasionally having accidents overnight, but he has shown the ability to coexist harmoniously with other dogs.Casper’s past trauma is evident in his behaviors—such as his unique habit of running in circles, likely a coping mechanism—but his foster experience gave a glimpse of his incredible potential. He walks beautifully on a lead, never pulls, and enjoys gentle companionship. His sensitive nature means he thrives in calm, structured environments with people who understand the needs of a dog with a difficult past. Now, back in the small, noisy cage at the pound, Casper’s sensitive spirit is suffering. He urgently needs a home where he can continue to heal. A patient adopter with a secure outdoor space and the time to guide him through house training will give him the stability he craves.Casper is waiting for his miracle. With the right person—a calm and loving presence who sees his worth—he will blossom into the amazing companion he was always meant to be. Will you be the one to give Casper the safe, quiet life he so desperately needs? Every day he spends in the pound takes a toll, but with your help, he can finally have the second chance he deserves.Update on Casper – A Fighter Who Still Needs a Home..In March 2025, we were faced with a heartbreaking reality: Casper was literally dying at the pound. He was struggling, both physically and mentally, and his condition was rapidly deteriorating. It became painfully clear that we had to find another solution for him – urgently.Thankfully, a space opened up at a private kennel, and we were able to move him there. The difference has been remarkable. In the calmer, less stressful environment and with better care, Casper has improved significantly. He is no longer just surviving – he is slowly starting to thrive.Casper has settled in well, and one important thing to know is that he gets along well with other dogs, as long as they respect his space. He particularly enjoys the company of older dogs who like to relax and take it easy, rather than being overly demanding or in his face. However, it’s important to remember that this is still not a forever home. After everything he has endured and survived, Casper deserves a medal – and more than anything, he deserves a home of his own. A place where he is safe, loved, and finally allowed to be just a dog. Please help us find that home for him.
