Dember arrived at Los Barrios pound in June 2025 and was about 11 years old on arrival. He is a gorgeous American Staffordshire Bull Terrier.Dember – 11 Years of Loyalty, Now Alone in the Pound...Dember is 11 years old. For his entire life, he lived with his owner – his only family. But after a recent traffic accident, everything changed. Because Dember is classified as a PPP (potentially dangerous breed), his owner – who does not hold the required license – is no longer allowed to reclaim him.So now, after 11 years in a loving home, Dember has ended up in the pound.It’s overcrowded. It’s noisy. It’s dirty. The heat is unbearable. He is confined with almost no space to move, and there is very little human contact. This is not what any dog deserves – least of all a senior dog who has known nothing but home, routine, and love.He is confused. He is grieving. He doesn’t understand what has happened to him. And he urgently needs someone to step in – whether to adopt or foster – and show him that his life still matters.Please, help Dember. Don’t let his story end like this.October: Dember’s Update 💛We had been looking, and looking, and looking for a foster home for Dember, as he was really, really not doing well at the pound.In mid-September, Dember finally got lucky — he moved into a loving temporary foster home! He has now been there for about three to four weeks, and his foster family tells us he is absolutely amazing.He is living with a child and doing wonderfully. Dember has learned several tricks and loves to show them off — he knows “sit,” “lie down,” “turn,” and “paw.” His foster family describes him like this:“Dember is a fantastic dog. He always does his business outside. He loves being at home and surrounded by people. He is very obedient, understands basic commands, and even knows a few tricks. He is affectionate, calm, a bit clumsy — and he absolutely loves human contact!”We are so happy and relieved to see Dember thriving again. But his foster home is only temporary, so Dember is still looking for his forever family — or a new long-term foster home — where he can enjoy the comfort, love, and peace he so deeply deserves. 💛
